This may sound stupid and I've never heard of it myself but...
Is it possible to install Windows onto a clean hard drive from within
Windows?
What I mean is can I boot into Windows from 1 drive, insert my XP CD,
click setup and then point the installation to happen on the clean 2nd
drive? I've installed Window's millions of times but I've always done
it from either DOS (for 95, 98, ME) or using an XP CD. If it's not
possible what is the reason?

The OS is designe dto install that way. It assumes there is only one boot
partition, it installs and then makes an entry into the boot.ini of the boot
partition.
