Default Paint Defaults

Is there a way to set the default color & line thickness in Paint so I do not
have to set it every time I open Paint?

In my line of work, I use Paint almost exclusively for taking screen shots
to the clipboard, pasting them into Paint, encircling things in red, the
copying/pasting portions of the results into e-mails as examples.

Every time I open Paint, I have do this:

Colors -> Edit colors - {Choose red}
Line tool -> pick thickness (default is too thin for my use)

Is there an INI file or registry entry somehwere that contains/controls
these defaults so that I can manually set the default line color & thickness?

I misspoke a little. I can use the pallette to set the color (don't have to
use menu bar); however, the problem remains that it does not persist when
opening Paint the next time, and I still need (well, let's just say I want
it) a way to set the default line thickness.
