Default Norton and rundll.exe

I recentlyadded norton internet security 2009 to my main desk top computer,
it said I needed to remove other versions which it did the restarted, only to
find all the icons had changed, now I cannot open anything as a message about
file type rundll.exe not found also I get an error message at times saying
not a win32 application. I have run norton for about 5 years regulary getting
updates scans etc, so i think its not a virus but its just mucked up all my
files, anyone with anyideas or help, thanks diablonf

If you HAVE to use Norton, uninstall it, and reinstall it.
Why don't you contact Symantec?
It's their software!

And after you uninstall it, use their Removal tools to TRY and get the rest
off your computer.

I did try to uninstall, but now add remove programmes doesn't work as
anything with an exe attached is a problem. I have spent from 0001 - 0445
this morning then 0830-1530 on their help lines chatting about various ways
to sort it, I get the impression they want to give up, but it's definately
their software that caused this its happened on two computers both running on
XP It worked fine on my vista, I'm gettig tired and desperate!

Thanks for your reply

Try using the Norton CD to reinstall it. It should give you the option to
repair, install or uninstall it.

Also, locate the enhanced Norton Uninstall tool off Symantec's web
site. This tool will completely remove all Norton applications going
back a few years. Once your PC is cleaned of all Symantec / Norton
products, you could re-install your NIS2009.
