Default FOLDER SORTING in XP Pro (5.1, build 2600):

I have a long list of folders all numbered. The numbering is: 001, 002, etc.
and continues to 116, 218 etc. Some numbers have been skipped and as I fill
in the gaps with new folders they are sorted and fall into place. However,
something has changed. I create a new folder, name it 032 and it goes to the
end of the list, not between 031 and 033. I also notice that all the other
folders seem to have a space between the folder icon and the folder name
(like <icon 031> while the new folder has no space (like <icon032>. Even if I
rename one of the old folders it goes to the new format. What changed and how
do I get it back?

Here is a screenshot of the folder in question. Actually, several have
changed. Further info: In the past, if I wanted to go to a folder I just had
to type the folder name(number) and that folder would be highlighted. Not
anymore. I type and the curser does not move.

The ~030 has the tilda,
remove to place in order

The 030 misses the space in front of the 033
place a space and it will fall into place
