I have been searching for the fix to this for about 3 days now and can't
find any resolve.
I have just installed a used motherboard that I aquired for someone,
the motherboard is a LanPartyUT nF3 Ultra D
When plugged in fresh the computer will start without any issues and
runs great. But once shut down via the shut down procedures in XP, the
computer will not restart with by pressing the case start/power button.
Now if I turn off the power supply switch or unplug from the wall and
wait until the motherboard light goes out and then turn on the power
supply switch or plug back into the wall I can use the case start/power
button to start the computer.
I have already replaced the case switch with 2 different working
switches to no avail. Looking for some help or suggestions.
Thanks in advance cuppa
If you replaced a mobo you need to run a repair installation of win and
install the mobo drivers supplied from their site or from the mobo cd

assignment is. It may be set for something other than power off/on.

well, if windows is functional and it is only an
issue with the power and it is a used motherboard,
then maybe you need to go to the mother boards
website and look up faq's for that model.
you may need to update the motherboard bios
and / or download updates from their to install in
windows.
unfortunately, it is all that we can really provide
because it sounds like a hardware issue.
perhaps, you will simply have to nurse maid the pc
..
so try connecting the pc into one of those six outlet
power surge protector / strip and have it within
easy reach;
because the protector has a convenient on/off switch
you can easily turn off the ac power after your power
down windows.

XP know about it yet?
There are motherboard specific drivers on your HDD, so you need to get
the ones that match.
The XP that is on the HDD was hopefully set up with the correct
drivers for the original MB.
I could not find a good link for you to look for drivers for your
specified model, so let's see what XP thinks about it and then decide
what to do (without guessing):
Click Start, Run and in the box enter:
msinfo32
Click OK, and when the System Summary info appears, click Edit, Select
All, Copy and then paste
the information back here.
There will be some personal information (like System Name and User
Name), and whatever appears to
be private information to you, just delete from the pasted
information.
This will minimize back and forth Q&A and eliminate guesswork and
assumptions.

(I.e. Do a shutdown from Windows.) Now, when you press the
button on the front of the computer, it'll refuse to start.
Instead, at this point, unplug the monitor cable from the
VGA connector on the computer. Now, press the button on
the front of the computer. Does it start now ?
There was a problem a few years back, with the symptoms
as described. The only workaround discovered, was to
unplug the monitor cable, at which point, the button
on the front of the computer would work.
Report back what you find.

SC TomThanks SC Tom, I thought of that and even tried changing the assignment
fresh power up but will not start again after a full shutdown unless I
remove power from the motherboard and wait until the power light on the
motherboard goes out. Once that happens I can send power to the mother
board and start from what ever the start button assignment is in the
bios. But then after shut down I am in the same situation.

The most likely cause is a bad power supply.

Are you hearing any beep codes when it tries to start? If so,what do
they sounds like, such as: long, short, 2 short 1 long, etc.
If your not hearing any beep codes then I would check, power supply and
then the RAM.
Let us all know the outcome.

Try the following. Do your normal "soft off" from Windows.
(I.e. Do a shutdown from Windows.) Now, when you press the
button on the front of the computer, it'll refuse to start.
Instead, at this point, unplug the monitor cable from the
VGA connector on the computer. Now, press the button on
