Can anyone tell me why it takes 20 minutes to format a cd and burn 122mb.
Why can't you save something quicker than that

You can but you need to use Brasero in Ubuntu Linux. It's much better
and much quicker.

Check it out at http://www.ubuntu.com/ It's free and comes with access
to over 24,000 free programs.

Out of those 24,000 free programs only about 6 are worth anything and they
are not worth much. No need to even look at Ubuntu. Ubuntu is crap from
the get-go and you would be better off sticking with Windows

You can be slowed down by a slow CD/DVD recorder, or maybe low memory or
the software you are using etc. While it would appear you are using some
flavor of Vista operating system and likely the default software, we really
don't know. Give more information and someone may be able to help you.

And burn slowly. That doesn't give a solution.

Actually almost nobody in this forum wants to try or even use Ubuntu. Alias
is our resident troll who hates Microsoft and tries to get converts to his
crippled Operating System and the junk software that comes with it. No need
to worry.

How about these things?:

Email
Surf the web
Burn CDs.
Rip CDs.
Listen to music.
Watch vidoes/DVDs.
Scan and print.
Spreadsheets.
Presentations
Newsgroups.
HTML editing.
Games like Chess, Tetris, all kinds of solitaire, etc.
Make videos.
Download photos from a camera and organize them.
Translations.
Use a dictionary
Learn how to touch type.
Edit images.
Send and receive a fax.
Take screenshots.
Create .PDF files.
Create and use a data base.
Instant messaging with over 10 different programs in one including
Windows Live Messenger.
IRC.
Bluetooth.

and much more!

What you can't do with Ubuntu:

Worry about:
WPA and WGA raising their ugly heads,
DRM,
Viruses,
Root kits,
Spyware,
and
Malware.
